Flora was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald of 51 years, her son David (Bonnie) and her great granddaughter Sarah.
Flora was born in Penticton, British Columbia on November 1st, 1937 to Arthur and Mary Currie. As a young child the family moved to Bowden, Alberta where she grew up attending school until grade 11. Flora completed her last year of high school in Red Deer at Lindsay Thurber Composite High School after the school in Bowden burnt down.
After completing high school Mom found employment as a bank teller in Innisfail where she met and married Ron Baker in 1958. They initially settled in Bowden, having 3 sons before moving to Sylvan Lake in 1966. In 1970 they added another son to the family, making it four boys in a row. It was a busy time for Mom, as Dad worked away from home for many months at a time during those early years. Mom was blessed and appreciated living in her town; Sylvan Lake. Mom never obtained a drivers license and therefore traveled many steps on foot for groceries or down to the lake for summer fun. This continued into old age, until her ability to walk did not allow her to get out as much. She was a faithful sports Mom spending many hours at the old outdoor rink and Sylvan Arena. Then moving over to the high school, and a warmer venue, where she was entertained by high school basketball. Once the boys completed their sports endeavors, Mom supported Dad, cheering him on at the curling rink. Flora also treasured being a part of IODE, Red Hatters Club, Evening Guild, and Ladies Bible studies at Memorial Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Flora’s memory to the Red Deer Regional Health Foundation or Bethany Care Society Sylvan Lake.
